dog leg path - works well!!

This is a job we completed a few years ago. I was driving past and saw that the house was for sale and the garden was getting a final maintenance run. I thought it was a good time to get some shots.
I love the way the path, levels and walls work together to create a simple elegant entry statement. At no time does the garden architecture try to over burden the architecture of the house. We do alot of work with Cameron and Innovative architects who were the designers of this home. I like working with the form and scale of the house and extending this out onto the garden. This always creates a simple garden and not over designed which is a pet hate of ours. Get rid of the ego and design with that particular site and its characteristics in mind. Simple lines and simple structures is the key to the success of this landscape. Working with slight level changes, focal points and scale. The use of the Pyrus is a good way of reducing the scale of the house and bringing a little attention to the garden. The tree also marks an axis from the front door of the house out.
